Themed Book Pouches (Mini Unit Studies):
Our popular themed pouches combine 5–8 carefully selected books around a topic—like owls, artists, or rocks. They’re a ready-made, screen-free unit study in a bag. These are part of your book-only membership and are perfect for both homeschool and afterschool families who want meaningful learning without lesson plans.
The Book-Only Plan is not a “basic” option—it’s a full, generous library membership. It gives you access to the kind of collection most families only dream of owning, with zero pressure to store, pre-read, or buy anything.

Membership Level: Branch $35/month
The Branch level includes everything from the Nest level, and:
The heart of Fallen Sparrow Library is, and always will be, the books themselves.
The Branch Plan gives families access to a curated, intentional, and deeply nourishing collection of over 4,000 volumes—chosen for their beauty, depth, and alignment with timeless values.
This isn’t just a shelf of popular paperbacks or flashy new titles. It’s a collection built to form hearts, feed minds, and bring families together around stories that matter.
Here’s what you’ll find:
Nonfiction Resources:
Rich science and history resources for all ages—books that invite curiosity, encourage wonder, and bring clarity without the clutter of modern agendas.
Historical Fiction That Brings the Past to Life:
From early reader picture books to middle-grade novels, historical fiction is one of our collection’s greatest strengths. Whether your student is learning about colonial America or World War II, you’ll find stories that immerse them in the time period and make history feel real and personal.
A Deep Literature Collection:
Our literature shelves are curated with one goal: to give families access to the books a truly rich education requires. That means classic literature, living stories, and contemporary works that reflect timeless virtues—not fleeting trends.
We carry:
- The classic foundations of a Western education: Shakespeare, Dickens, Austen, and Stevenson—alongside well-loved American authors like Louisa May Alcott, Mark Twain, and more.
- Age-appropriate abridgements for younger readers and full editions for older students
- Books commonly listed on homeschool literature guides and classical curricula
- World literature and poetry that introduces students to beauty, depth, and global understanding
- Character-rich modern stories that feel old-fashioned in the best way—like the Wingfeather Saga, Lamplighter books, Little Britches, The Green Ember, and Tales from Terrestria
- Stories that explore virtue, courage, forgiveness, perseverance, and family—instead of angst and rebellion
This is not a place where students will be handed fluff or filtered options. This is a literature library where the whole family can grow—with titles that stretch minds, shape character, and feed the soul.
High-Quality Antique Sets (Content-Rich, Not Just Collectible):
We hold multiple complete and partial sets that have stood the test of time—because the content is still that good. You’ll find:
- Three different Childcraft sets
- A full My Book House collection
- The Junior Classics
- An “old-fashioned” encyclopedia set with broad educational value
…and more added regularly.
Early Readers and Early Chapter Books:
For those first independent reading years, we offer dozens of sweet, wholesome options designed to build confidence and foster a love of books. They’re stories kids actually want to read. You’ll find gentle readers, early chapter books, and supportive series that help children grow from decoding to delighting in their own book stacks.
From treasured classics like Beatrix Potter and A.A. Milne to wholesome series like Boxcar Children, Magic Tree House, Hardy Boys, Happy Hollisters, Dear America, and Encyclopedia Brown, our shelves are filled with books that let children read independently—and want to keep going.
Resources for Parents Too:
Whether you’re looking for Christian living, homeschool encouragement, health and nutrition, elder care, or parenting guidance, we have a robust section dedicated to parents who want to grow alongside their children.
Tons of Illustrated Picture Books:
Beautiful picture books—both classic and modern—fill our shelves. Many are included in Charlotte Mason, Five in a Row, and other gentle education methods. These are the kinds of books that slow time down and invite connection.
Membership Level: Wing $50/month
In addition to our rich library of books, Wing level members can borrow hands-on learning tools, high-quality games, themed kits, and educational resources that bring learning to life. From science kits and supplies to toys, manipulatives, and hobby kits, these materials support interest-led learning and give families the freedom to explore without the cost or clutter of owning it all.
Decade Boxes
Step into the past with immersive boxes that offer a rich look at American life in each decade from 1900 to 2009.
Each Decade Box is built around a Time Life book that anchors the historical narrative. To bring the culture of the era to life, every box also includes:
- A high school yearbook from the decade
- Paper-based ephemera like postcards, photographs, and advertisements
- Magazines such as Boy’s Life, Popular Mechanics, Life, National Geographic, Teen, and others
These boxes are designed for middle school to high school students to explore the events, innovations, fashion, media, and everyday life of American decades with real historical artifacts.
Available decades span 1900 to 2009, with each box offering a unique glimpse into its era.
Hobby Boxes
These kits allow children and families to explore a new hobby without the upfront investment. Each box includes non-consumable materials, books, and instructions. Sometimes, the consumable materials are available for sale at the library. Hobby Boxes we have presently include wood burning, drop-spindle yarn making, rubber stamp crafts, baking cookies, and a rock tumbler. Families and businesses can sponsor future boxes to help expand the library as well. Please contact us!
